4 electrical hand dryers with infrared sensors are installed in a row on a wall, just as in a regular washroom - the only difference being that they are attached approx. 1.20 m over the floor only (at crotch height of the viewer).
The devices function completely normally, as long as the approximation-sensor is activated.

As a Readymade I take the hand dryers as an art object - each one is a sound sculpture in and of itself.
Hanging next to each other in this particular way, the devices are transformed into an interactive sound installation, wich deals ironically with contemporary issues in art theory and practice. Also the title "four brides" takes a specific position by undermining the very character of media art, which is often regarded as an exclusivly masculin domain because of it´s technological approach to artistic creation.

The exhibition context is compared metaphorically with the public washroom, endangered by Vandalism.

4 elektrische Händetrockner mit Infrarot-Näherungsschalter werden in einer Reihe an einer Wand montiert, ganz wie im regulären Waschraumbetrieb sonst auch – mit dem einzigen Unterschied, dass sie nur ca. 1,20 m über dem Fußboden (in Gürtelhöhe des Betrachters) angebracht sind.
Die Geräte funktionieren ganz normal, wenn der Näherungssensor betätigt wird.

Als Readymade behandele ich die einzelnen Händetrockner als Kunstgegenstände – jeder ist für sich ein Klangobjekt mit skulpturaler Qualität.
Die nebeneinander angebrachten Geräte werden so in eine interaktive Klanginstallation transformiert, die die aktuellen Maßstäbe in der Kunst-Praxis und –Theorie ironisiert. Auch der Titel „vier bräute“ bezieht Position – wird doch gerade die technisierte Medienkunst häufig als ausschließlich von Männern dominiert betrachtet.
Der Ausstellungskontext wird metaphorisch mit dem durch Vandalismus gefährdeten Waschraum verglichen.
